C4I Center Director Emeritus Receives Prestigious Award

2015 IEEE Jack S. Kilby Signal Processing Medal

The IEEE Board of Directors selected Dr. Harry L. Van Trees, Director Emeritus of the C4I CenterHVT to receive the 2015 IEEE Jack S. Kilby Signal Processing Medal, which is given for outstanding achievements in signal processing. The award is given in honor of Jack Kilby who won the Nobel prize in 2000 for inventing the transistor. The award comes with the following citation: “For fundamental contributions to detection, estimation, and modulation theory; sensor array processing; and Bayesian bounds.”

For nearly a century, the IEEE Awards Program has paid tribute to educators, researchers, inventors, innovators, engineers, and scientists whose exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions have made a lasting impact on technology, society, and the engineering profession. Each year the IEEE Awards Board recommends a small number of outstanding individuals for IEEE’s most prestigious honors.
