C4I Academic Program

The C4I Center is part of the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) at George Mason University. Located in the high technology area of Northern Virginia, the school is ideally positioned to take advantage of industrial, government and academic interaction. This enables the academic and research programs to maintain a basis in real world issues and increases employment opportunities for graduates.

IT&E offers a Ph.D. program in Information Technology spanning the disciplines of electrical and computer engineering, systems engineering, operations research, statistics, computer science and information systems. Additionally, IT&E offers Ph.D. programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Systems Engineering and Operations Research.

At the M.Sc. level, a student can earn a certificate in C4I or in Architecture-Based Systems Integration (ABSI) in combination with either a M.Sc. in Electrical or Systems Engineering. Alternatively, a student can earn a M.Sc. in C4I Systems Engineering. In each case, the student does a thesis or Master's project in a C4I Center research laboratory. These programs are unique; George Mason University is the only civilian university offering a quantitative Master's degree in C4I.
