Science & Technology II building, Room 320

ABSTRACT

Europe's new rapid reaction forces, Battle Groups, function as the EU's crisis managers. The forces of several nations and their systems now need to be interoperable with each other. This seminar will describe the Nordic Battle Group (NBG) which began its mission the first of January 2008. To start its mission, the NBG needs to be able to handle its organization and follow its chain of command. Next, the focus will be on the various C4 systems and how they are interoperable with each other and to simulations. Then the seminar will describe the ongoing interoperability initiatives of combining military and civil systems together in Europe. The seminar will end with a description of some of the ongoing work of developing embedded C2 planning and training capability by Saab.
