         George Mason University

Defense Analyst Position Available

The George Mason University (Mason) C4I Center seeks a full-time Defense Analyst to support its three year research contract with the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Office (JIEDDO). In this program Mason seeks to develop models and analyses of threat networks, behaviors, and interactions that support JIEDDO's mission to end the threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) as a weapon of strategic influence.

The selected individual is based at Mason's Fairfax campus, but will spend half-time or more at JIEDDO headquarters and associated locations in the greater Washington DC area interacting with the Government managers, customers, operators and users to understand evolving needs and help to guide, insert, and transition Mason results into effective use. This position involves both a research and a program management focus.

A successful candidate should have a track record of research and development demonstrating his or her capability to perform modeling and analysis of large-scale, real-world problems, to work with corresponding large volumes of "dirty" data, to find solutions useful to the war-fighter, commander, or other end-user, and to communicate results. Experience in using SAS software is a plus. In addition, this position entails management duties that include financial and security aspects.

All candidates should have a masters or doctoral degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Probability and Statistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to qualify for DoD security clearances if they are not already held. The ideal candidate would be a retired veteran of the United States Armed Forces, with Government, industry or academic experience working as a researcher, analyst, and/or study manager.
