The SmartNode Pod is designed to establish battlefield interoperability between disparate radios with different waveforms and frequency bands as well as establish a localized battlefield network. The SmartNode Pod is designed to be flown on either manned or unmanned aircraft to establish an airborne hub that will increase ranges for communications as well as networks in mountainous and urban scenarios.
Current Status: The SmartNode Pod is being reviewed as a candidate for flight certification and accreditation on the MQ-9. Potential users include Joint Special Operations Command, Special Operations Command, and United States Air Force Europe.
