Distributed Education and Training

Education and training, always important to sustaining an effective military force, have taken on new importance under the stimulus of rapid changes in technology. Today's soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen constantly are challenged to stay abreast of new systems they must operate, while their officers face the need to be able to integrate and manage these capabilities. But technology also has brought advances: network-based training enables military personnel to study in distributed mode rather than being returned to the "schoolhouse." Our most significant past work in this area has been under the DARPA Computer Assisted Education and Training Institute (CAETI).

Specific current projects in this area include:
  • Network EducationWare (NEW)
    Direct contract support received from:
  • USJFCOM via Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC)
  • Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA)
    Internal support received from:
  • George Mason University Office of the Provost

The area coordinator for Distance Education & Training is Dr. J. Mark Pullen.
