GMU C4I Center Seminar
Developing a Complex Environment to Evaluate
the Impact of Cyber Actions on the Operational Domain

Engineering building, Room 4705
ABSTRACT
Evaluating the impact that events within the cyber domain have on ongoing military operations is
a non-trivial question, which, so far, remains unanswered in spite of the various research efforts
addressing it. The key issue underlying this question is the difficulty in correlating cyber and
physical behaviors in an integrated view, thus allowing a continuous analysis. This presentation
will show a framework (Cyber-Argus) that addresses this question, through correlation and aggregation
data available in the infrastructure and the mission. Cyber-Argus provides an evaluation of cyber
impact over mission during its realization, enabling analyst to prioritize his actions (defensive
view point) and to identify the vulnerabilities of enemy (offensive view point). One scenario will
be presented at the conclusion of the seminar helping the audience to understand all concepts involved
in the research and how the experiment will be validated.
