Abstract

The NATO MSG 145 group and the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) are working the Operationalization of Standardized C2-Simulation Interoperability (C2SIM). The C2SIM standard will provide a modular approach enabling users of different domains to define their needs in extensions. The main elements of the C2SIM standard are a core logical data model (created as ontologies), an extension mechanism, and extensions such as the Land Operation eXtension (LOX) along with transformation of its ontologes into Extensible Markup Language (XML) schemata. This seminar describes the work done by a French-German sub-group of the MSG-145 to implement a new C2SIM extension for an Air operation domain. The work includes the operational analysis of an Air operation scenario, the design of the logical model with ontologies, the generation of the XML schemata, and their implementation in the systems.

Speaker Information

Ms. Magdalena Dechand is a research fellow with Fraunhofer FKIE, Wachberg, Germany. She is an expert in spoken and written language analysis with a strong focus on syntax. Since 2015, she has been member of NATO-MSG-145 group “Operationalization of Standardized C2-Simulation Interoperability” and member of the C2SIM Product Development Group that is developing a new standard to exchange messages between C2 and simulation systems and is to substitute MSDL and BML, namely C2SIM. Ms. Dechand is working on knowledge representations in ontologies and on how to exploit ontologies in the C2SIM context. She is responsible for the C2SIM extension process in a German-French subgroup of MSG-145 and is going to present the C2SIM extension for the Air Operation Domain.
